Rhea Knives are hand forged in the manner of
old world craftsmanship. I use several steels in the blade
construction. I make hunting knives primarily, but also enjoy making
Bowie knives.
This knife is made very closely in
the likeness of the Musso Bowie. I really like the lines
and feel of this large knife. The brass strip along the
spine was to catch the opponent's blade, just in case there is
another sandbar fight. There are alignment pins in each
end of the handle for a strong joint. All of the fittings
are steel. The walnut has been stabilized, but the pores
are open and provide a sure grip. This knife would make a
good reenactment piece, but is ready for real use.
